Sailing in the Saint Louis Area

Movin' In!
The Sioux Pirate and Hot Ruddered Bum are officially a part of the Sioux Harbor in beautiful Portage des Sioux, Missouri. The HRB is still on her cradle waiting some final repair and touch-ups before the big splash. Hopefully we will be ready to get her wet sometime late April. Wouldn't that would be a great birthday present.

All that's left to do is seal up the rudder to keep the water from intruding. Also some touch-up to the bottom paint will be done before she goes in. The toe rails, cock pit combing trim and wooden spreaders were all removed last fall and had lots of varnish applied. Raise the mast. Get the engine ready for the season, break open a bottle of Captain Morgan and enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds that one only encounters on the river.

        Catalina 30

The recently renamed "Hot Ruddered Bum" is a 1980 30' Catalina sailboat. She is 29'-11" OAL, 25' LWL, and has a 10'-10" beam. She is nearly 11,000 pounds and sails like a witch.

I hope to have a fun and safe season and visit a lot of new harbors. If you are on the Alton Pool and see the HRB hail me. I just might buy you a drink or at least mix you one from my floating wet bar.

Fair Winds and Following Seas,

Scott aka. The Sioux Pirate
